Ironman

In the Ironman comics, Tony Stark is the main character. He is a businessman and an inventor that created a metal suit that provided with the person wearing it with the ability to fly, great strength and a full arsenal of weapons. He is affiliated with the Avengers and first appeared in the March, 1963 edition of Tales of Suspense.

The storyline of the Ironman begins when Stark was injured on a trip to the East. He invented a metal heart plate that he had to wear continuously in order to stay alive and this chest plate became the focus of his metal armour. He is another of the superheroes with an alter-ego because even though Stark was the head of security at Stark Industries, no one knew that he was actually the Ironman. At one point, Stark became an alcoholic and allowed his friend Rhodes to take over the suit and the role during the Secret Wars. He later returned after his recovery and eventually to form the West Coast Avengers, one of the few to break away from the main group.
