San Diego Comic Convential

2005 will be the 36th year for the San Diego Conic Conevntial. This is the largest convention of its kind in North America. If you want to attend a comic book convention in a large exhibit hall blocked to the doors with comic books. Original comic book art, action figures and collectors, then this is the venue you need to attend. The line up of special guests scheduled to attend this event is nothing short of spectacular. Some of the names you will see listed include

  • Murphy Anderson - the artist of the Buck Rogers comics
  • David B - a French comic book artist
  • Bob Bolling - one of the artists of the Little Archie series
  • Gene Colan - who worked on such comics as Howard the Duck, Wonder Woman and Captain America.

If you wish to exhibit your collection at the San Diego Comic Convential, you can call the toll free number, contact the organizers by email or send your request through regular mail. You will be one of many exhibits in single or double booths, but you do need to request your space early. Sometimes several people get together and team up in a booth making it easier to get their collections known.

There are many different events that take place at the San Diego Comic Convential. Such as art displays, autograph sessions, and comic book auctions. Many awards are also given out at this time, such as the Eisner Awards, for the most promising newcomer in the comic book industry and the Will Eisner Award for a comic book retailer.

You don't have to dress up to attend this event, but if it is your first time attending the San Diego Comic Convential, you shouldn't be surprised to find all manner of costumed characters. A masquerade party is also part of the annual event where you can dress as your favorite comic book character. It is not a party, as such, but more of a contest on stage with a panel of judges. You can join in the fun as a contestant or just watch the exciting event.
